E-mail Print PDF

Players, through invitation, are invited to be part of Camden Tennis Academy's Junior Development Training Squad. Conducted at the South Camden Tennis Club complex on Tuesday nights, to further enhance their tennis development. The Monday Night Senior Squad is for the older, teenage talented players.

Junior Squad

The object of the squad is to better prepare these juniors, for competition tennis of all levels.

Tuesday night squad is the junior squad for talented players aged from 9 years. These players must show potential and a willingness to learn more of the game. Their attitude to the game and to their peers is also assessed.

The squad training is structured to develop specific components of the game that juniors require to prepare for their local, district and greater competitions and tournaments.

It is the oportunity where both girls and boys get to develop and hone their skills against other talented players. Ability and the determination to improve will be 2 key requirements for successful participation in this squad.

A path for these younger talented juniors to make the leap to the senior squad already exists. The more advanced and mature members of this squad, will be given the opportunity to trial for the senior squad, when the coaches feel that the student is ready, both in ability and socially.

The cost to attend the squad, is $10 per session and each sesssion is 1½ hours in duration. Tuesday night squad starts at 5.30pm and finishes at 7pm.

These components include :-

  • Technical development - developing all aspects of stroke production, emphasing good footwork, being well balanced while producing solid, technically correct strokes that will hold up under any pressure situation.
  • Tactical development - developing both defensive and offensive strategies and patterns of play
  • Physical development - good tennis players require speed, agility, flexibility, strength and endurance
  • The right environment - provide an environment that the students feel comfortable in, promote a good work ethic combined with enjoyment.
  • Supervised match play - a great time to assess individual performance and overall development

Video analysis is available and will be incorporated into and be part of their training schedule.
