Camden Tennis Academy conducts group junior tennis coaching lessons on Saturday mornings at the South Camden Tennis Club court complex. Located in the Ron Dine Reserve, off McCrae Drive, South Camden, right next to the Tigers Soccer oval.
Group lessons conducted on Saturday mornings during each school term is your entry level for tennis coaching. Ideal for those budding tennis players, that are keen to start their tennis career.
We take the kids from 5½ to 6 years of age providing they are well co-ordinated. Most start from around the 7 years of age mark. At Camden Tennis Academy we align our tennis coaching with the state school terms. When the state school children go back to school for their first week, we start coaching on the first Saturday after their return.
Our coaching term is 8 weeks in duration. Most school terms are 10 weeks or close to. With the odd long weekend and wet weather we normally manage to complete 8 weeks of coaching in any school term.
The coaching sessions are structured, so that the raw beginners start in the 10am - 11am group. Here we start work on basic strokes and footwork. Each child progresses at their own pace. When they have mastered the basics in this group, they are promoted to the 9am - 10am group. This group are introduced to movement and the way they approach the ball. Proficiency in this group sees them promoted to the 8am - 9am group. Here their expertise in tennis stokes, footwork and movement are combined to develop their general court craft and understanding of the game.
When they are proficient in most areas of the game they are directed into a junior tennis competition. At Camden Tennis Academy we run an introductory tennis competition, that prepares the child to enter the competiton arena proper. That way the child is fully prepared to start their tennis career.
Fees: $60 - this is a term fee and payable by week 2.
